I am pregnant and busy; why do I need to attend a class that talks about easing labour pain? What will I and my partner get out of it?⁣


➊ It is two hours where you and your partner will be able to actually focus on your upcoming labour and birth in a safe environment with skilled facilitators who have been attending births for a total of 40 years. That’s a lot of labours!⁣

➋ Things that are not taught in any prenatal class - this class is unique - we do not waste your time - we tell you valuable tips, show you effective techniques and make you laugh!⁣

Water, Water, Everywhere (at Birth) – How a Doula Helps

● Make tea, electrolyte drinks⁣

● Remind clients to drink⁣
● Remind client to pee - the sensations of labour often take away the natural urge⁣

● Ensure clients know what to do when their “water breaks” (we prefer to say “when membranes release”)⁣

Why I love a messy house!

I love to see a messy house when I visit my clients, especially in the days after the baby is born.


It means that they are focusing on the essentials and simply have no time to tidy - and that can be a very good thing.

They are eating, staying hydrated, connecting with baby and maybe resting.

Doulas & the Birth-Ninja Skill of Not Speaking for our Clients

Doulas advocate for their clients without speaking for them. Often this takes some serious doula-ninja skills. ⁣

Why don’t we speak on behalf of our clients? Wouldn’t it help them have a better birth?⁣

NO!! It’s disempowering.⁣

A big problem with the medical model is that everyone thinks they know better than the labouring woman or new parents. Too many people essentially speak for them without even asking their opinion, without even knowing them. ⁣
